Emma's Design Tip - Colour & Patterns for Spring Summer '17

Hello and welcome back to the Lifestyle Files, and my Design Tip Of The Week! Read on for a few of latest colour trends and some glorious images to help demonstrate!

This Season's Fabrics - Let's Get Luxurious

Current fabric trends for Spring/Summer '17 has us swooning around lush velvets, large textured weaves, to herringbone and watercolour patterns and prints that ooze sophistication. For an effortless look using tones that add a sense of warmth and luxury is easily achieved.

Liveable & Inspirational - Feature Colours & Patterns

Don't be shy with fabric colours and patterns this season. Whether you are after a classic upholstered accent armchair, a comfy sofa or a feature ottoman this is where you can really make an impact on your personal style! Your home should be about you and your family and how it can be not just be liveable and practical but inspirational for everyone in it!

Lush Greens & Burnt Oranges

To add a hit of colour and refine the look, try using lush tropical greens to emerald to sage and spearmints and don't be afraid to mix these with deep plums, rose or plush or even burnt oranges and tangerine in block colours. Inspired by nature, these colours are a calming for spring.

Navy Blues through to Peacock

We are also loving blue and peacock this season! Striking shades add a hit of boldness flowing from one hue to the next with colour depth. Think navy to indigo and peacock to deep jade and aqua. Upholster a few cushions or all together for a modular lounge or if you prefer in your Master suite creating that effortless dark and moody look.

Watercolours

What we are also seeing is watercolours making a comeback! This is really big in florals and geometric patterns with an amazing soft handling like velvet. Mix these with large weaves to enhance the materials feel and texture combination. Whether your wanting modern clean lines or that classic feel these types of fabrics will be perfect for any areas of the home.

As our Interior spaces are our foundation, get creative. Small amounts of colour and patterns can make a huge difference with a small cluster of cushions, indoors or out. A round ottoman, a new bed head for your kids room or a simple accent chair for your study room. Colour brings balance and mood so getting it right can transform any home into a luxury space you will never want to leave.
