Spring has Sprung!

Spring has Sprung!

Spring is a time of the year that many of us like to get a bit of a head start on that big yearly cleanup before the heat of the summer hits us, and all we feel like doing is taking a break outside and enjoying ourselves. Let’s not forget that little distraction called Christmas either!

When we start spring cleaning though, a lot of us very quickly realise just how many unnecessary things we’ve accumulated since our last ‘big clean’. Be honest, it happens every year! So how much is too much? Here’s a good guide when you’re undecided:

Keep things that make you happy;

Keep things that are useful.

It’s that easy. Everything else that you don’t use regularly, or you keep around because you might use it “someday” – is clutter. There’s something very beautiful and satisfying about looking across your living room and finding comfort in seeing a clean, clutter free space (with beautiful furniture, of course!). Do you really need that many beanbags lying around?

When it comes to spring cleaning this year, consider how much of those things lying around are items you actually want to have. You might surprise yourself.

Some of the clutter you’ll figure out you don’t need quite easily, that stuff can go right away. Other things you might have some kind of lingering attachment to, even if you don’t need it. That old exercise bike you’ve told yourself you’re going to use to get fit for the past few years now…that can probably go into the shed. Your bookshelf is overflowing with old novels you haven’t read in years and years; take them to a second-hand bookstore so someone else can enjoy them!

As for your old furniture, let’s face it, things get old, we replace them, and sometimes we’ve had them for so long we’re reluctant to just ‘get rid’ of them. After all, furniture can have all kinds of associated feelings and memories. So why not win some karma points by helping those who need them more? You can donate your old furniture to help your community by giving it to those in need, have it sold at opportunity stores or make a difference to an individual or organisation. It’ll free up some more space and make you feel great as well! Win-Win!

With that extra space, you can invest in some timeless furniture and create new memories along with it! Maybe it’s time to invest in a beautiful outdoor dining set; drinks will be at yours all summer! We have a huge range of new outdoor settings for the season. Mix up your colour palette, revamp your home or simply just de-clutter; our beautiful range at Lifestyle Furniture will make your vision a reality!

In WA you can donate your items by registering them online through Givit.
